GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The ADF4110 familyoffrequency synthesizers can be used to implement localoscillators inthe upconversion and downcon version sectionsofwireless receivers and transmitters. They

consistofalownoise digitalPFD(phasefrequencydetector), a precisionchargepump, a programmablereference divider, programmable A and B counters,and a dual-modulus prescaler

(P/P + 1).The A (6-bit) and B (13-bit) counters,in conjunction withthe dual-modulus prescaler (P/P + 1),implement an N divider(N = BP+ A).Inaddition,the 14-bitreference counter(R counter) allows selectable REFIN frequencies atthe PFD input. A completephase-lockedloop(PLL) can be implemented ifthe synthesizer is used with an external loopfilter and voltage

controlledoscillator (VCO).
