EachpinonPortAcanbesetupusingthePAWUregistertopermitanegativetransitiononthepin towake-upthesystem.WhenaPortApinwake-upoccurs,theprogramwillresumeexecutionat theinstructionfollowingthe“HALT”instruction.Ifthesystemiswokenupbyaninterrupt,then twopossiblesituationsmayoccur.Thefirstiswheretherelatedinterruptisdisabledortheinterrupt isenabledbutthestackisfull,inwhichcasetheprogramwillresumeexecutionattheinstruction followingthe“HALT”instruction.Inthissituation,theinterruptwhichwoke-upthedevicewillnot beimmediatelyserviced,butwillratherbeservicedlaterwhentherelatedinterruptisfinallyenabled orwhenastacklevelbecomesfree.Theothersituationiswheretherelatedinterruptisenabledand thestackisnotfull,inwhichcasetheregularinterruptresponsetakesplace.Ifaninterruptrequest flagissethighbeforeenteringtheSLEEPorIDLEMode,thewake-upfunctionoftherelated interruptwillbedisabled. Watchdog Timer TheWatchdogTimerisprovidedtopreventprogrammalfunctionsorsequencesfromjumpingto unknownlocations,duetocertainuncontrollableexternaleventssuchaselectricalnoise. Watchdog Timer Clock Source TheWatchdogTimerclocksourceisprovidedbythefSclock,whichisinturnsuppliedbythefSUB clock.ThefSUBclockcanbesourcedfromeithertheLXTorLIRCoscillatorselectedbytheFSS bitintheSCCregister.TheLIRCinternaloscillatorhasanapproximatefrequencyof32kHzand thisspecifiedinternalclockperiodcanvarywithVDD,temperatureandprocessvariations.TheLXT oscillatorissuppliedbyanexternal32.768kHzcrystal.TheWatchdogTimersourceclockisthen subdividedbyaratioof28to218togivelongertimeouts,theactualvaluebeingchosenusingthe WS2~WS0bitsintheWDTCregister. Watchdog Timer Control Register Asingleregister,WDTC,controlstherequiredtimeoutperiodaswellastheenable/disable operation.ThisregistercontrolstheoveralloperationoftheWatchdogTimer.
