AstheresetpinissharedwithanI/Opin,theresetfunctionmustbeselectedusingaconfiguration

option.AlthoughthemicrocontrollerhasaninternalRCresetfunction,iftheVDDpowersupplyrise

timeisnotfastenoughordoesnotstabilisequicklyatpower-on,theinternalresetfunctionmaybe

incapableofprovidingproperresetoperation.Forthisreasonitisrecommendedthatanexternal

RCnetworkisconnectedtotheRESpin,whoseadditionaltimedelaywillensurethattheRESpin

remainslowforanextendedperiodtoallowthepowersupplytostabilise.Duringthistimedelay,

normaloperationofthemicrocontrollerwillbeinhibited.AftertheRESlinereachesacertainvoltage

value,theresetdelaytimetRSTDisinvokedtoprovideanextradelaytimeafterwhichthewillbegin

normaloperation.TheabbreviationSSTinthefiguresstandsforSystemStart-upTimer.

FormostapplicationsaresistorconnectedbetweenVDDandtheRESpinandacapacitorconnected

betweenVSSandtheRESpinwillprovideasuitableexternalresetcircuit.Anywiringconnectedto

theRESpinshouldbekeptasshortaspossibletominimiseanystraynoiseinterference.

ForapplicationsthatoperatewithinanenvironmentwheremorenoiseispresenttheEnhancedReset

Circuitshownisrecommended.
