Programming Considerations

TheTMCounterRegistersandtheCapture/CompareCCRAorCCRPregister,beingeither10-bitor

16-bit,allhavealowandhighbytestructure.Thehighbytescanbedirectlyaccessed,butasthelow

bytescanonlybeaccessedviaaninternal8-bitbuffer,readingorwritingtotheseregisterpairsmust

becarriedoutinaspecificway.Theimportantpointtonoteisthatdatatransfertoandfromthe8-bit

bufferanditsrelatedlowbyteonlytakesplacewhenawriteorreadoperationtoitscorresponding

highbyteisexecuted.

AstheCCRAandCCRPregistersareimplementedinthewayshowninthefollowingdiagramand

accessingthisregisteriscarriedoutinaspecificwaydescribedabove,itisrecommendedtousethe

“MOV”instructiontoaccesstheCCRAorCCRPlowbyteregister,namedxTMnALorPTMnRPL,

inthefollowingaccessprocedures.AccessingtheCCRAorCCRPlowbyteregisterwithout

followingtheseaccessprocedureswillresultinunpredictablevalues.
